The authorities have said that during an inquiry, it was revealed that the AEEs were not present in the district when their services were most needed.

It also said that the locations of these officials were traced in Janglatmandi, Anantnag and Srinagar. “Their absence was deemed highly unprofessional and unbecoming of public servants, especially during a period of heightened administrative efforts to provide relief to citizens amidst snow-related challenges.”

Pending a detailed inquiry into their conduct by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Shopian, the AEEs have been suspended and they have been attached to the 24×7 Control Room in Shopian and instructed to report immediately.

Further, their salaries have been withheld, with no disbursal permitted by the respective Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) until the inquiry concludes. (KNO)
