3 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act, fraudster under PSA

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag have booked three “notorious” drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act, while a habitual fraudster has been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

The three-drug smugglers — Zubair Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Ramzan Ganie of Gund Bagh Seer Hamdan (involved in case FIR No. 04/2024 under NDPS Act at PS Mattan), Bashir Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Yousuf Khan of Gopalpora Mattan (implicated in case FIR No. 89/2024 under NDPS Act at PS Mattan) and Sartaj Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of Tulkhan Bijbehara (involved in case FIR No. 14/2024 under NDPS Act at PS Bijbehara) have been booked under PIT NDPS Act, police informed in an official handout Friday.

It said police in Anantnag also detained a “notorious” fraudster Bilal Ahmad Lone alias Dr. Bilal, son of Mohammad Akbar Lone of Maratgam, Handwara, under the PSA. Known for his involvement in multiple fraudulent activities, Bilal Ahmad Lone has caused significant public distress, police said.
