Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said they have attached property of two drug peddlers worth Rs 20 lakhs under NDPS Act in the downtown area of Srinagar district.
In a statement, police said that it has attached property comprising two vehicles, valued at approximately ₹20 lakhs, which were acquired through the sale of illicit drugs and substances by two drug peddlers — Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Pacha, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, resident of Dalal Mohalla, and Rakib Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Salam Dar, resident of Rajouri Kadal, who are accused in NDPS Act cases.
Police said that during investigation in two NDPS cases (FIR No. 48/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act and FIR No. 51/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station MR Gunj) the proceeds of illicit drug trade have been identified and attached today under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
Separately, a police handout informed that police in Handwara seized a vehicle (JK01AT-4651) worth Rs 10.5 lakhs, allegedly bought using proceeds from illicit drug trafficking activities. The vehicle, belonging to “notorious” drug peddler Javeed Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Razzak Sofi of Khunbal Handwara, was attached under Section 68(f) (1) of the NDPS Act of 1985, police said.
