Srinagar: Police in Pulwama have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, police spokesperson informed Saturday.
A drug peddler identified as Mohammad Shamim Wani, son of Abdul Majeed Wani of Astanpora, was arrested and 15.50 grams of a brown sugar was recovered from his possession, police said.
Police also said that Wani was arrested on the basis of disclosures made by one Yawar Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Hamid Mir of Melhoura, who was arrested on November 26 and 10.58 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession.
“Investigations revealed that Mohammad Shamim Wani was using his motorcycle (JK13F-0571), to transport the illicit drug and accordingly it has also been seized in the instant case. Further investigation of the case is going on,” police said.
