Srinagar: Denying reports of any tussle between Raj Bhawan and CM Omar Abdullah’s office, senior National Conference (NC) leader and party’s chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq said on Saturday that elements with malicious intent are leaving no stone unturned to create chaos and confusion in public.
He said Jammu & Kashmir as of now is a Union Territory, but at the same time we have an elected government in place which should be allowed to run affairs without roadblocks.
About the reports of tussle between the Office of LG, and CM Omar Abdullah-led government, Sadiq, who is also MLA Zadibal, without naming anyone said “there are elements who want to create chaos between LG office and CM’s office; they want to create problems somehow between the two!”
“Being a chief spokesperson of National Conference (NC), I want to clarify that there is no fissure between LG Office and CM Omar Abdullah-led government,” he said and added “if there is any internal issue between the two, that will be resolved amicably”.
He said we don’t want a dual power system in Jammu and Kashmir. “An elected government is in place in J&K. Since it came into being, everything is going in a positive direction.”
Sadiq reiterated they (NC government) are hopeful that statehood to J&K will be restored soon, so that power is centered at a single place, and the government will be allowed to serve people from a single office.
He also said that nominated people cannot serve people, rather elected representatives have constitutional mandate to serve people in real sense.
“I hope LG administration and officers will keep this thing in mind that statehood will be restored sooner or later; so they should obey the directions of elected representatives of the people,” NC leader said.
When asked about promises made by the NC in its manifesto, he said decisions regarding issues pertaining to day-to-day life of common people will be made public soon.
“Be it is an increase in the number of gas cylinders or free electricity, the decision will be taken in the coming months. We are committed to live up to the expectations of our people. We want an adequate and uninterrupted power supply to our people. We mentioned these things in our manifesto in October this year, and I am hopeful by February or March 2025, these pressing issues will get resolved,” he said.
“The 200-units of free electricity to our consumers will be ensured after two months,” he stated.
