Srinagar: Police arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.

He said at Malkha Chowk, Nowhatta, police arrested one Sajad Sheikh, son of Baktawar Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony, Hawal and recovered approximately 3.370 kilograms of cannabis powder-like substance and 20 grams of cannabis from his possession.

In Awantipora, at Hatiwara, police arrested three suspicious persons after 65 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession. The accused were identified as Danish Rasheed Bhat, son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat; Danish Ashraf Dar, son of Mohammad Ashraf, and Umer Rasool Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar, all residents of Lethpora.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations.
