Srinagar: Authorities here on Thursday attached two houses in Shopian district and one in Baramulla in connection with terror cases under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, police said.
“In a significant move to counter-terrorism, police in Shopian have taken strict action by attaching two double-storied residential properties under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA),” a police spokesperson said.
He said the attached houses are registered in the names of Mohammad Shafi Dar, “father of terrorist Adnan Shafi Dar”, resident of Wandina, on land measuring four marlas (Khasra No. 14) situated at village Wandina; and Abdul Majeed Koka, “father-in-law of terrorist associate Sajad Ahmad Khah, resident of Melhoora, on land measuring seven Marlas (Khasra No. 1347/ min) situated at village Melhoora.”
According to the spokesperson, the possession was taken in relation to a case registered at Zainapora Police Station.
“(It) was executed in the presence of a duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols,” he said.
The relevant entries have been made in revenue records by the revenue authorities and notice for the sale and transfer of the attached properties has been duly served under the provisions of the UA(P) Act.
Similarly, a single-storied residential house along with 16 marlas of land was attached in Nowpora Kalan in Baramulla district’s Sopore area. It belongs to Mohammad Subhan Khan.
‘Two terror associates arrested with AK-47 rifles in Qazigund’
Security forces arrested two “terror associates” and recovered arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles from them in Lower Munda area of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.
Officials said that “during naka checking two terror associates were arrested and recovery was made at Gulab Bagh near Lower Munda area of Qazigund”. The recovered arms include two AK-47 rifles, four magazines and some rounds.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of Nipora, and Altaf Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone of Teesan Kachpora Zadoora.
A case has been registered, and further investigations have been taken up, he said.
Police raid houses of four suspected terror associates in Poonch
Police carried out searches at the residences of four suspected over-ground workers of terrorists in the border district of Poonch on Thursday as part of its efforts to curb anti-national activities, an official said.
According to a police spokesperson, the searches were conducted at the houses of Mohammad Nasar of Sakhimadan, Mehmood Hussian of Dehri Dabsi, Mohammad Khalid of Dharana and Abdul Aziz of Bhatidhar in Mendhar sub-division.
“The individuals whose houses were searched are believed to have been providing logistical support, shelter, and other assistance to terrorists operating in the area,” he said.
The search operations were meticulously planned to gather evidence and disrupt activities that pose a threat to peace and stability in the region, the police spokesperson said.
Senior officials overseeing the operation have emphasised their commitment to wiping out all elements involved in anti-national activities and ensuring the safety of civilians, he said.
Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share any information that can aid in the fight against terrorism.
