Srinagar: To align with its vision of enhancing administrative efficiency and accessibility through digital means and modes, the University of Kashmir (KU), Tuesday officially unveiled its Online Verification System marking another milestone in its journey towards a paperless system.

The event also highlighted the advancements achieved through the Examination Management System (EMS), an in-house web application designed to automate key examination-related processes.

“The online verification of certificates, degrees and transcripts alongside EMS positions the varsity as a leader in leveraging technology for academic and administrative excellence making the operations and services at the Examinations Wing 100 percent paperless,” an official spokesperson said in a statement issued here.

While unveiling the new online verification system, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, congratulated the entire team for their dedication and appreciated the Examinations Wing for implementing the EMS and the Online Verification System.

“The Examinations Wing (at KU) has significantly transitioned in adopting technology to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Such systems will ensure transparency and efficiency in our services delivery,” she said.

Dean, Academic Affairs, KU, Prof Shariefuddin Pirzada, underlined the transformative potential of EMS, and said: “The EMS is not just a technological innovation but a paradigm shift in how we manage examination processes.”

The system ensures 100% paperless transactions and providing beneficiaries with real-time updates through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT).

Controller of Examinations, KU, Dr Majid Zaman Baba, provided insights into the technical aspects of the Online Verification System while highlighting the EMS’s functionalities and impact.

“Since its implementation, the EMS has automated processes like remuneration for paper setting, evaluation and practical examinations, enabling seamless and transparent financial transactions,” he said.

He apprised the members that over Rs 28 crores have been processed since March 2022, while more than Rs 6 crores generated in the current financial year.

“The key features of the EMS are that it ensures end-to-end automation of remuneration for paper setting, evaluation, practicals, Ph D and other examination-related processes. It also ensures that beneficiaries receive payments directly into their accounts while they can track bill status in real-time,” Dr Majid added.

On the launching of the Online Verification System, he explained that the service will be provided to only employers/organisations/entities/institutions seeking the desired verifications. “But they will have to first register on the system and only then their requests will be taken,” he maintained.

The system ensures full digital submission and approval processes and is bases on EAT (Expenditure, Advance and Transfer) Module, streamlining expenditure filing, fund transfers and settlement processes, the statement added.

The event was attended by key university officers from the Examinations Wing and the Registry besides, deans of different schools and other staff.
