Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Srinagar and Sopore, and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Sunday.

He said at Barthana, a vehicle (JK01J-7081) was intercepted with two persons on board. Identified as Arif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Lateef Ahmad Sheikh of Barthana Qamarwari, and Asif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Razaq Sheikh, a resident of Babapora Barthana, both persons were arrested after 628 grams of cannabis and 650 grams of cannabis powder were recovered from their possession.

In Sopore, at Chinkipora, one Qaisar Rasool Khan, son of Ghulam Rasool Khan of Faisalabad Chinkipora, was arrested after 7.36 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigations, police said.
