MLA Trehgam visits Keran sector, reviews developmental profile

KUPWARA: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Trehgam, Mir Saifullah, today visited border area Keran of Trehgam Assembly Constituency to take stock of the developmental issues of the people living in the frontier tehsil.

At the outset, the MLA chaired a joint meeting of officers and local people at Mini Secretariat Keran.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, M Rouf Rehman; ACD Kupwara, CMO, besides, tehsil and block level officers and a large number of people were present in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the MLA Trehgam said that the aim of his visit to the frontier area Keran is to assess the problems faced by the people living here so that the same can be redressed properly. He said that the development and welfare of the common people is the top priority of the Government and assured the people that the issues faced by them will be resolved on a war footing basis.

He said that a comprehensive plan would be made for resolving the developmental issues of the people in a phased manner.

Reviewing the Health sector, the MLA directed the CMO to post lady doctors during the winter season so that maternity-related issues are taken care of properly.

Regarding PHC Keran, the R&B department was directed to complete the hospital building in all respects by the coming April. It was informed that Health Centre buildings in Patroo and Naga villages have already been completed.

With regard to ration supply, it was informed that adequate stock of essential commodities including rice, kerosene and LPG cylinders are available in Keran to cater to the needs of the local population.

The MLA enquired from various officers regarding the actual position of staff available on the ground so that the same will be taken up with the higher authorities for filling up the vacancies.

Regarding the availability of transformers in the winter season, the MLA sought demand from the PDD department and assured of providing the necessary buffer stock of transformers which will help in mitigation of power supply crisis in the winter season.

The MLA took a detailed stock of various other issues including posting of staff in schools, power supply, water supply, rural development, mobile network connectivity, roads etc and directed the concerned officers for resolving the same. He assured the people that issues of greater magnitude will be taken up with higher authorities to get them redressed.

Earlier, prominent and senior citizens of Keran tehsil put forth various developmental issues of different villages of Keran before the chair which were heard patiently by the MLA.
