JAMMU: Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. B.N. Tripathi today said that the Varsity is going to host a four-day National Agriculture Summit–2024.
He was addressing a press conference flanked by the statutory officers of the University.
“Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Jammu is organizing a four-day National Agriculture Summit – 2024 w.e.f. November 20-23, 2024 at Main Campus, Chatha,” he told reporters.
The 4-day National Agriculture Summit will be a mega event to be organized by SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with Agriculture Production Department, Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Department of Horticulture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Department of Sheep Husbandry, Department of Sericulture, Department of Fisheries, Horticulture Planning & Marketing, Department of Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Department of School Education, J&K Youth Services and Sports Department, Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd, National Fertilizers Limited, Chandigarh and National Horticulture Board, Govt. of India.
The theme of National Agriculture Summit- 2024 is “Harnessing Innovations in Agriculture and Allied Sciences”. underscores the transformative role of technology and sustainable practices in modern farming. This initiative aims to equip farmers with knowledge and tools to adopt high-tech solutions, improve productivity, and adapt to global agricultural challenges. By showcasing cutting-edge research and practices, the event aspires to foster a sustainable future, ensuring enhanced resilience and profitability for India’s agrarian communities.
National Agriculture Summit- 2024 would showcase cutting-edge technologies developed by research organizations, alongside valuable insights into smart agricultural practices. This will provide a unique opportunity for participants to engage with innovative solutions and best practices in the Jammu region.
The event shall bring a large number of progressive farmers, rural youth, farm women, Start-ups and agri-entrepreneurs, eminent scientists and researchers, faculty members and students, livestock owners, industrialists, Institutions/government officials, NGOs, Policy makers & field functionaries at one platform, wherein they shall have direct access to latest innovative ideas available in the field of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and other allied sectors.
With an expected attendance of twelve to fifteen thousand participants from Jammu and Kashmir, as well as neighbouring states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and the Union Territory of Ladakh, this summit is poised to be a landmark event in the agricultural calendar
