Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) Tuesday urged the J&K government to ensure ‘judicious use’ of JK House in New Delhi.

In a statement, the forum said this historically significant establishment has long served as a vital resource for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for patients seeking medical treatment in Delhi.

“It is disheartening to see that a significant portion of the house has been allocated to Ladakh while the remaining portion has been outsourced, eroding its cultural and functional value,” the statement said.

It said 70 percent posts at the JK House are lying vacant which directly affects the patients and others who stay there seeking treatment and other services.

JKCSF emphasizes the urgent need to restore the JK House’s glory by preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritage, including Kashmiri cuisine and arts, which were once a hallmark of JK House, said the statement.

The government must ensure fair distribution, keeping the original purpose of the house in mind, reads the statement.

“It should primarily cater to the needs of patients and their attendants, while also serving as a hub for showcasing the rich traditions of Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement urged the government.
