Kulgam: An encounter is underway between terrorists and security forces at Badimarg area of Yaripora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.
An official told KNO that a joint team of security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
“As the troops approached the suspected location, they came under heavy fire, which was effectively retaliated,” he said.
Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
Additional reinforcements have been called in to prevent their escape.
“Cordon layers are being strengthened,” the officer said, adding that the lights have been installed to monitor the spot where the terrorists are holed up.
