Srinagar: The Department of Pension & Pensioners Welfare (DoPPW) is set to hold a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) camp in Srinagar on November 12, 2024, as part of the nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign 3.0.
The camp, intended to help pensioners with the digital submission of life certificates, will be held at the State Bank of India (Main Branch) on Residency Road and at the India Post Payments Bank inside the General Post Office (GPO) Building in Srinagar.
The month-long campaign, launched nationwide in November 2024, aims to simplify the life certificate submission process for pensioners through Aadhaar-based face recognition technology, accessible via Android smartphones. This advanced system, which does not require physical biometric devices, allows pensioners to submit their certificates quickly and easily from their own devices, a critical feature for elderly and mobility-challenged individuals.
Under Secretary Pravesh Kumar from DoPPW will be on-site at the Srinagar camp locations on November 12 to assist pensioners in navigating the digital submission process. Representatives from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will also be present to support pensioners in updating Aadhaar records and resolving any technical challenges.
The Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) system, first introduced in 2014, has been a significant step forward in easing the process for pensioners, particularly those living in remote areas. In 2021, the addition of face authentication technology further reduced the need for in-person visits to Pension Disbursing Authorities, marking a major leap in accessibility. Building on the success of previous campaigns, DoPPW organized a nationwide effort in 2022 across 37 locations, generating 1.41 crore DLCs, which expanded to 100 locations in 2023, producing over 1.47 crore DLCs.
This year’s Campaign 3.0 is on track to cover over 800 locations nationwide, with activities running from November 1 to November 30, 2024. Collaborating with various partners, including Banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners’ Associations, UIDAI, and ministries such as Defence, Railways, and Telecommunications, DoPPW has set up camps across numerous cities to support digital submissions. Special accommodations have been made for super-senior and disabled pensioners, including home visits for those unable to reach camp locations.
Campaign updates and awareness are being promoted through social media, and DoPPW is monitoring progress via the DLC Portal, ensuring pensioners across India can benefit from this convenient and accessible system.
