Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla district and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police spokesman said that police arrested two persons at Kunzer and recovered 40 grams of Charas like substance from their possession. They have been identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Rather son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Karhama and Rahil Rahman Ganie son of Ab Rahman resident of Ratnipora Payeen.

At Zangam crossing Pattab, police intercepted one person on suspicion and recovered 188 grams of cannabis powder like substance from his possession. Identified as Mohd Maqbool of Rambailgarh Mirgund, the person was arrested.

One more person, identified as Iqbal Hussain of Sari Bandi, Kanalkote was arrested as 3.7 Kgs of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.

“All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody,” a police spokesman said, adding, that cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at Police Station Kunzer, PS Pattan & PS Uri and an investigation has been initiated.
