Srinagar: Apni Party on Monday reiterated its demand for the release of detainees and said that the party was disappointed to see that Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, did not mention anything about pressing public demands such as the release of detainees and the issuance of passports to aspiring applicants, in his address to Legislative Assembly today.

The party has said that the jailed youth can play a significant role in fostering peace and stability in J&K, if they are released and given a chance to live a peaceful life.

According to a press release issued here, these remarks were made by the party leaders in an important meeting held today at the party headquarters in Srinagar. The meeting was presided over by the party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari while senior leaders and all the constituency heads from central Kashmir were present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the party leaders expressed their concern over the recent surge in terrorist activities that claimed several innocent lives and left numerous civilians injured. They also expressed their concern over the government’s lack of intention to release the detainees, despite this being one of the key demands and aspirations of the people. In the meeting, the party leaders voiced concern about the delay in issuing passports, particularly for the youth who wish to travel abroad to earn a livelihood. Apni Party leaders called for immediate action to release the detainees and to address and process the pending passport applications, the press release said.

On this occasion, the party leaders emphasised that the Apni Party’s agenda and policies, introduced at its inception four years ago, are the only way forward to ensure lasting peace, enduring prosperity, and equitable development across Jammu and Kashmir. The implementation of the Apni Party’s vision will ensure the political, social, and economic empowerment of J&K people.

The participants of the meeting also deliberated on several important party matters and shared their views and feedback from the grassroots level regarding the performance of the party cadre. They also outlined strategies to further strengthen the party.
