Srinagar: Traffic Police in Srinagar on Thursday issued an advisory for motorists ahead of Kashmir Marathon 2024 which is scheduled to take place on October 20.

The advisory says that Kashmir Marathon-2024 is being organized by J&K Tourism Department on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in which a large number of people from all walks of life are expected to participate.

In order to facilitate smooth movement of participants and to avoid traffic congestion on various routes during the Marathon, the following route plan/advisory is issued to avoid any inconvenience to the participants/general public.

All the participants for the said Marathon shall park their vehicles at designated parking places which include SP College Ground, SDA Parking opposite Pick n Choose, Multilevel Parking at Press Colony, Presentation Convent School, Gindun Park Rajbagh, Institute of Hotel Management Rajbagh, Directorate of Horticulture Rajbagh, Football Ground TRC, Floriculture Park RR Road, and Cricket Ground TRC opposite J&K Bank headquarters.

There will be no movement of traffic on Residency Road from Radio Kashmir crossing up to Poloview from 05:00 am till 05:00 pm.

There will be no movement of traffic towards Police Station Rajbagh and Presentation Convent School from Jawahar Nagar/Lal Mandi and from Hattrick up to Abdullah Bridge – Zero Bridge, from Rajbagh and Aramwari from 05:00 am till 08:30 am.

There will be no movement of traffic on M A Road from Budshah Chowk towards Dalgate and Badyari up to Nehru Park from 05:00 am till 09:00 am.

There will be on movement of traffic on Residency Road from Court Road – Clock Tower to Biscoe School crossing from 05:00 am till 08:30 am.

There will be no movement of traffic from Nehru Park towards Kralsangri-Nishat Foreshore Road-Habbak crossing and Kashmir University up to Sir Syed Gate from 05:00 am till 01:00 pm.

There will be no movement of traffic from Hotel Lalit-Gupkar Road & Ram Munshi Bagh from 05:00 am till 01:30 pm.

There will be no movement of traffic from Sonwar towards R M Bagh from 05:00 am till 01:30 pm.

Motorists intending to travel from Harwan, Shalimar and Nishat and Brein side are advised to adopt Burzahama via Chandpora-Tailbal-Zakura-Habbak-Naseembagh road & vice versa to reach their respective destinations.

Likewise motorists coming from Ganderbal/Nagbal side towards Lal Chowk are advised to adopt 90 Feet Soura road & vice versa to reach their respective destinations.

Likewise motorists intending to travel from Rambagh and other adjacent areas towards Rajbagh and other areas shall adopt the Jawahar Nagar Bund road to reach to their respective destinations.

There will be no movement of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) after 08:00 pm on 19.10.2024 onwards on the Marathon routes viz R R Road, Gupkar Road, Boulevard Road, Foreshore Road, etc.

People are requested to avoid unnecessary movement on the Gupkar Road, M A Road, Residency Road, Boulevard Road, Badyari, Dalgate till Nishat Foreshore road, Habbak Crossing up to Sir Syed Gate Kashmir University Srinagar particularly from 05:00 am till 01:30 pm on 20th October 2024.

Citizens are requested to plan their journey accordingly, so as to avoid any inconvenience on 20th October 2024.

Emergencies shall be allowed to take the shortest route.

In case any assistance is required, citizens are requested to contact Traffic Police at the Traffic Police Control Room No. 103.
