According to local authorities, the collision involved a motorcycle (JK15B-4018), and a tipper truck (JK01K-7865).

After being hit by the tipper, injured Rather was immediately rushed to CHC Sumbal for medical treatment, but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead on arrival.

An eyewitness said the tipper truck was moving at an incredibly high speed. “The collision was so severe that the motorcyclist had no chance to avoid it.”

Later in the day, one Mohammad Sadiq Bhat, a retired police officer, fell from the slab of his house in the same area. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

Police have registered cases and launched an investigation into both these incidents, news agency KINS reported.
