Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.

He said one Parvaiz Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh of Kawaki Bazar Qaimoh, was arrested at Khudwani Byepass after 750 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

He said 3 kgs of poppy straw, 03.50 grams of brown sugar, a digital weighing machine and a cash of Rs 29,750, believed to be “proceeds of narcotic substance”, were recovered from the possession of Nizamuddin Kunshee, son of Mohammad Abdullah Kunshee of Gulab Bagh, following which he was arrested.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
