Srinagar: Police in Sopore claimed to have arrested three gamblers and recovered stake money from their possession.

“Acting on specific information regarding gambling activities at Behrampora, a police party of Police Post Watergam, raided the specific spot. On seeing the Police party gamblers tried to flee but 03 gamblers identified as Mohammad Iqbal Mir son of Ghulam Mohiudin Mir, Liyaqat Amin Ganie son of Mohammad Amin Ganie and Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, all residents of Behrampora Rafiabad were apprehended and one gambler namely Hilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh resident of Behrampora Rafiabad fled from the spot,” said a police spokesperson.

“Stake money of ₹8,800/- & playing cards were recovered from their possession. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated,” the spokesperson said.
