Situated 80 kilometres from the district of Kupwara, this charming locale is home to approximately 2,000 residents and around 300 households. While the road to the Machil Sector is mostly macadamized, the path leading directly to Ring Bala requires improvement.

Challenges Faced:
During our visit to Ring Bala, we encountered several challenges that provided valuable learning experiences for all of us. I want to share these insights to help future visitors prepare and make the most of their trip to this beautiful place.
Road Connectivity: The road conditions are quite challenging. During rainy or snowy weather, the roads become extremely muddy and slippery, making it nearly impossible for vehicles to move.
Mobile Network: Connectivity is a major issue in this area. We experienced significant problems with the mobile network, which could be problematic for those needing constant communication.
Accommodation: There are no homestay facilities or support from the tourism department, which can be inconvenient for travellers looking for a comfortable stay.
Healthcare Services: The healthcare facilities in Ring Bala are inadequate. It’s important to be prepared for any health-related issues and carry necessary medications.
Transport Facilities: Transportation is another significant challenge. Only a few vehicles operate on this road, largely due to the poor road conditions.
Despite these challenges, Ring Bala remains a stunning destination worth exploring. Being aware of these issues can help you plan better and enjoy the natural beauty and tranquillity of this unique place.
A Journey through Ring Bala:
Ring Bala holds a special place in our hearts, fuelled by the inspiring stories we’ve heard from many visitors. These tales motivated us to plan our own journey, marking our first visit to this enchanting place. Departing from Kupwara, we were warmly greeted upon arrival by friendly locals, each offering their hospitality and warmth. Our friend, Mr. Adil, a dedicated Mechanical Engineer turned Vocational Teacher at Ring Bala High School, graciously hosted us during our stay.
Visiting the school was a highlight, witnessing firsthand the dedication of its teachers who, despite challenges, passionately nurture education. I felt a deep sense of pride as Adil delivered an engaging lecture on Automobile Technology, showcasing the school’s commitment to practical learning. The modest school building belies the tremendous efforts of these educators, who manage admirably with limited resources. I also had the privilege of sharing insights into modern educational trends and opportunities, grateful for the chance to contribute to such a vital educational environment in this border area.
Overall, our experience in Ring Bala was not just about exploration but also about celebrating the resilience and dedication of its people and educators.
