Kupwara: Two people died, and another was injured after an oil tanker skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Machil, in north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Saturday late night, officials said.
Quoting an official news agency NVI reported that an oil tanker (JK02DG-9805) was moving from Kupwara when it skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Machil.
The official added that two people died in the incident, while another was injured.
He identified the dead as Jasbir Singh, son of Gareeb Singh, a resident of Balshama Sunderbani Rajouri; and Ankush Choudary, son of Paramjit, a resident of Nowshara. The injured person was identified as Anu Sharma, son of Sunath Lal Sharma, a resident of Sunderbani, Rajouri.
Moreover, he added that both the dead bodies have been shifted to SDH Kupwara for medico-legal formalities, while police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
