DEA Srinagar organises mega voter awareness prog at SKICC

SRINAGAR: Ahead of the General Elections to Legislative Assembly-2024, the District Election Authority (DEA) Srinagar today organised a mega voter awareness programme at SKICC.

The awareness programme was held on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

The event was aimed at educating and sensitizing the citizens, especially the students, and youth about the importance of voting and ensuring their active participation in the upcoming elections.

In the presence of Nodal Officer SVEEP, the event featured a diverse array of activities including Ladishah play, election songs, display of banners, etc. aimed at empowering voters with comprehensive knowledge regarding their rights and responsibilities within the electoral process.

Furthermore, the event was enriched by captivating presentations and melodious songs performed by students of various schools, injecting a creative flair while effectively reinforcing the ethos of civic duty and the significance of voter turnout.

Speaking about the event, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat who is also the District Election Officer said that as part of SVEEP activities, such initiatives serve as vital pillars in nurturing an informed and engaged citizenry, essential for the vitality of democracy.

He added that voter awareness campaign is an important element of elections, serving as a cornerstone in fortifying democratic processes.

The DEO urged the people, especially youth, to propagate the message of electoral participation to their families, relatives, and communities, emphasizing the significance of their role in nation-building through elections.
