Assembly Elections-2024: Dr Arvind Karwani reviews preparations for Kashmiri Migrant voters

JAMMU: Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), Dr Arvind Karwani today reviewed the progress of arrangements for Kashmiri Migrant voters being put in place with regard to the conduct of upcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assembly.

Dr Karwani took a detailed appraisal from Assistant Returning Officers, Booth Level Officers and other concerned officers about the arrangements being made at proposed Special Polling Stations, Collection/Distribution Centres and at designated Strong Rooms.

Dr Karwani emphasized on ensuring all requisite Assured Minimum Facilities(AMF) at all designated Special Polling Stations viz. permanent ramps, drinking water, and toilet facilities as per norms of the Election Commission of India.

He emphasized on reaching out to the voters and ensuring all necessary facilitation.

Pertinent to mention that for facilitation of Kashmiri Migrants, Special Polling Stations are set up at Jammu, Udhampur and New Delhi. The Assistant Returning Officers are stationed at Jammu, Udhampur and New-Delhi.

The Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner directed the officers/officials to work with full devotion and to ensure time bound accomplishment of the assignments of Assembly Elections-2024, and due adherence to the electoral laws, regulations, and fairness of the electoral process.

Dr Karwani, also had a detailed meeting subsequently with the representatives of all major political parties, wherein various suggestions made regarding facilitation of migrant voters were noted.
