DEO Bandipora addresses briefs media regarding election schedule

BANDIPORA: In view of the Assembly Elections – 2024 scheduled to be held in the 3rd phase on 01 October 2024 in Bandipora District, the District Election Officer (DEO) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today addressed a press conference at the Mini Secretariat.

The DEO said that elections in the three assembly constituencies of Bandipora District are scheduled in the 3rd phase, and voting shall be held on 01 October 2024, for which notification shall be issued on 5th September 2024.

He said there are 312 polling stations in the district, with 137 polling stations in 14-Sonawari, 144 polling stations in 15-Bandipora, and 31 polling stations in 16-Gurez, with 100 percent assured minimum facilities available at all polling stations across the district.

The DEO said that 12th September 2024 is the last date for filing nominations, and on 13th September 2024, scrutiny of nominations shall be held, while 17th September 2024 is the last date for the withdrawal of candidature. He said 01 October is the poll date for District Bandipora, and counting of votes shall be held on 4th October 2024.

He said that District Bandipora has 258,852 total voters including 132,267 male, 126,579 female, 2,584 PWD, and 6 transgender voters.

The DEO said that all the necessary circulars detailing the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct to maintain the sanctity of the electoral process have been issued. He said that extensive awareness activities under SVEEP, including rallies, debates, seminars, and house-to-house awareness, will be conducted to enhance voter turnout.

He also appealed the public to participate enthusiastically in the upcoming assembly elections.

He briefed the media about various ICT applications of the Election Commission of India, including cVIGIL, SUVIDHA, NCORE, and the voter helpline.
