At the outset, DEO presented an overview of the programmes and activities conducted during the ongoing SSR in the district.

On the occasion, Div Com took a detailed review of the progress achieved in the District under ongoing SSR and the number of fresh applications received for inclusion besides the number of other claims and objections.

He also reviewed the digitization process and disposal of claims and objections. He emphasised upon the concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to conduct revisions according to guidelines of ECI as per notified schedule and expedite the process for achieving targets.

The chair was informed that all ERO/AEROs of District Srinagar were provided with necessary training regarding Electoral Registration process in the last week of July. Further, separate training sessions for all 932 BLOs of District Srinagar about using the BLO App designed by ECI for registration of fresh electors as well as all other claims and objections, were conducted.

They were also educated about voter helpline App for filing registration of newly eligible voters. Training was imparted to newly appointed BLOs as well before the commencement of the H2H Survey.

Besides, it was given that out of a total of 932 BLOs of District Srinagar, 827 BLOs are locals as they are registered as electors in their respective parts, while the remaining 105 BLOs are electors of adjacent polling areas.

It was informed that the draft electoral roll is available on the website of the CEO and a copy of the Photo Electoral Rolls of the entire District has been published at the notice board in the Office of each ERO and at Polling Stations and at various designated locations including Ward Offices, Nayabat Offices, Tehsil Offices for the convenience/inspection of the general public/electorates as desired by the Election Commission of India/Chief Electoral Officer, J&K.

For enrollment it was stated that wide publicity was given regarding ongoing summary revision through print/ electronic media. Besides informative hoardings about 2nd SSR were installed at prominent places in the district and awareness programmes on SVEEP have been also organized.

To register weaker and marginalized sections, awareness programmes have been taken to ensure the registration of the weaker/marginalized.

Roll Observer emphasized that EROs must put in their best efforts through various means of awareness under the SVEEP program to motivate all young eligible electors to register their names in electoral rolls and ensure that no eligible voter remains unregistered.

Further, it was stated that BLOs have been strictly instructed to entertain objections on Form 7 only and issue proper notices to all the objections for deletions. It was given that around 10,000 claims of deletions were entertained since June 25, 2024, and most of the claims were processed during the H2H Survey.

Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC, Srinagar and EROs of the district.
