Srinagar: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, on Monday, said that people in various areas across the valley are suffering from a range of pressing public issues, primarily due to official apathy, lack of infrastructure, growing unemployment, and rising inflation.

He emphasized the need for immediate assembly polls, asserting that only an elected government can effectively tackle these issues, as elected representatives are directly accountable to the people who elect them.

He made these remarks today after meeting with several public delegations from across the valley. These delegations visited the Apni Party leader at the party headquarters in Srinagar.

According to a press release issued here, a number of public delegations from areas including Ladoora, Bandipora, Yaripora-Kulgam, Poonch, Shopian, Chanapora-Stadium Colony, Broadway Shivpora, and other areas met Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari at the party headquarters in Srinagar today. In their separate meetings with the Apni Party chief, the members of these delegations apprised him of the pressing public issues and grievances affecting their respective areas.

“Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari gave a patient hearing to these delegations and assured them that he would bring their issues and grievances to the attention of the concerned officials for prompt redressal. Furthermore, he assured the members of the delegations that the Apni Party, if given a public mandate in the upcoming elections, would do everything possible to ensure the well-being and prosperity of the people in Jammu and Kashmir,” the press release said.

“Only elected representatives can address public issues effectively, as they are always accountable to the people who elect them to be placed at the helm. Therefore, it is imperative that the assembly polls be held without any further delay,” he added.
