MSME Ministry’s DFO Srinagar organises IAP on LEAN scheme

SRINAGAR: Development and Facilitation Office (DFO) Srinagar under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises MSME organized the Industry Awareness Programme (IAP) here today to create awareness among the business community regarding the MSME competitive (LEAN) scheme.

The awareness programme was attended by industrialists from Lassipora, Baghi Ali Mardan, Zakura and other industrial estates.

Addressing the gathering, the Director of Industries and Commerce, Kashmir, Khalid Majeed, who was chief guest on the occasion, spoke about various initiatives of the government for the MSME sector. Maintaining that the government is very serious about resolving the issues of the industrialists, he said that the issues raised by them from time to time are being given due care through robust handholding support.

He also said that awareness programmes like these will go a long way in facilitating the new entrepreneurs in the smooth running of their units and they should take maximum benefit out of them. He also asked the concerned to involve more and more new entrepreneurs to attend these workshops and awareness programmes.

Assistant Director, MSME DFO, Saheel Alaqaband while speaking on the occasion gave a detailed presentation on the lean scheme and said that data recording and documenting problems should be given top priority by the unit holders for their sustainability.

He further said that the program is organized with the objective of imparting awareness to the unit holders with respect to the schemes available and providing complete handholding support.

Giving details about the scheme, he said that all MSMEs registered on UDYAM registration portal of the MoMSME will be eligible to participate in MSME competitive (lean) scheme and avail related benefits/incentives.

He said that the scheme is also open to Common Facilities Centres under SFURTI (Scheme of fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) and Micro & Small Enterprises Cluster Development Program (MSE-CDP) schemes.

MSME competitive (LEAN) scheme, a component of the MSME Champions Scheme aims to promote efficiency, reduce waste and enhance productivity through lean manufacturing principles. They provide valuable insights and guidance to MSMEs on implementing lean practices to streamline operations and improve competitiveness in the market.

The objective of the scheme is to make the MSME sector more competitive through the implementation of lean tools and techniques while at the same time striving to reduce manufacturing costs, space management, efficient utilization of resources, inventory management and improved process flow.

The units successfully completing the MSME Competitive (LEAN) scheme get benefits in terms of exemption in parameters of the MSME Sustainable (ZED) certification and subsidy attached to the MSME digital scheme.

During the programme, an interaction session was held with the MSMEs in order to respond to the queries pertaining to the LEAN scheme and other issues regarding the Ministry of MSME schemes.
