Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has appealed to the administration to shut down schools in the valley in view of the unprecedented and unbearable heat wave prevailing in Kashmir division.
KCCI in a statement said the valley has consistently been recording very high temperatures causing tremendous problems for the school-going children.
It said the KCCI has taken up the matter with the administration and appealed to them to consider concerns of the parents of a large number of children with regard to closure of schools till the cycle of present heat wave and adverse weather conditions show signs of improvement.
It also said the parents have been complaining that the health of their children is getting affected, more so, in view of power outages in schools, resulting in non-operation of coolers and fans.
The chamber in its interaction with officials of the administration have been assured that the matter of closure is under consideration and a decision in the matter will be taken soon, the statement said.
