The LG asked the Army, CAPFs and the Jammu & Kashmir Police to pro-actively conduct coordinated counter-terrorism operations in the Jammu division, the press release said.

“We must launch meticulous and well-planned counter-terrorism operations with greater synergy between all the agencies to wipe out terrorists and those aiding and abetting them,” the LG said.

The LG also directed that the security grid should be further strengthened to ensure zero cross-border infiltration.

Earlier, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reached Jammu to review the security situation at a meeting in Jammu and Kashmir amidst growing terror activities in parts of otherwise peaceful Jammu region.

This was the second visit of the Army chief to Jammu in less than three weeks after taking charge as the 30th chief of the Indian Army on June 30.

Nine army personnel, including a captain, were killed in two separate terror attacks in remote forest belts of Machedi in Kathua and Desa forest in Doda on July 8 and July 15.

The Army chief chaired  a high-level security review meeting at police headquarters here which was attended by top officers of police, army, paramilitary and intelligence, officials said.

On July 16, army said all formations of Udhampur-based northern command are committed to eliminate the scourge of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The army said it has been conducting a series of joint and coordinated operations with J-K Police to eliminate foreign terrorists who have infiltrated from across the border and are moving in the upper reaches of Udhampur, Doda and Kishtwar districts in Jammu region and thereafter to Kashmir.

On July 03, the Army chief visited the border district of Poonch and also chaired a meeting in Jammu and reviewed the security situation.

LG says like Kashmir, terrorism will be rooted out from Jammu region too

The “positive transformation in Jammu and Kashmir has frustrated the master of terror”, but our government will not allow ill intentions of the enemy to succeed, said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha here on Saturday amidst a spurt in violence in the Jammu region.

Speaking at a function at SKICC, Sinha said J&K has undergone a huge positive transformation, but some people have a problem with it.

“This transformation has especially frustrated the master of terror that our neighbour is, and they are trying to create terror in the Jammu region,” he said, referring to the spate of attacks in the region.

The LG said, “We will not allow their ill intentions to succeed”.

“The people of Jammu have always withstood terror, and I have full faith in the bravery of our jawans. The way the commanders of all the outfits were wiped out from here (Kashmir), our security forces and army will soon succeed in getting rid of them there (in Jammu region) too,” he said.
