Srinagar: A man has died and a woman has been injured in a road accident in the Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that an auto-load carrier with registration number JK13H/5253, traveling from Srinagar to Awantipora, overturned near Barsoo Y Junction last night.

The passengers on board included Aaqib Ahmad Bhat (25), son of Gh. Qadir and a resident of Noorpora, who is the maternal uncle of the driver, and Afroza, the driver’s mother. Both sustained injuries in the accident.

Both individuals were evacuated to SDH Bijbehara, where Aaqib Ahmad Bhat succumbed to his injuries. Afroza is currently receiving treatment.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. (KS)
