Director Agriculture embarks on extensive tour of District Kupwara

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today undertook a comprehensive tour of Kupwara district and took stock of the agriculture scenerio in the district.

The Director inspected the agriculture crop fields including paddy fields, and vegetable fields in many areas of the district and held interactions with the concerned farmers.

On his visit to Tomato village Hatchimarg Kupwara, Director Agriculture held exchange of thoughts with the farmers and distributed agriculture implements, inputs among the concerned farmers. He assured the concerned farmers of every possible technical guidance in their future endeavours also.

Director also chaired a meeting of FPO members of the district. The meeting was focused on sensitizing the FPO members about various schemes being implemented by the agriculture department. The FPO members were also provided essential guidance on acquiring seed, fertilizer and pesticide licenses.

Addressing the FPO members and other stakeholders, Director Agriculture highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between agriculture department and FPOs in achieving sustainable development of agriculture sector in the UT of J&K.

Earlier, Director visited some HADP works and took feedback from the concerned farmers about the said works.

He also chaired a meeting of officers of district Kupwara and reviewed the progress under different centrally sponsored schemes and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme.

MD J&K Finance Corporation Shafat Sultan, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara Yadwinder Singh Sason, District Agriculture Officers, Sub-divisional Agriculture Officer and other officers were present on the occasion.
