Govt to allow Muharram procession on traditional route in Sgr after three decades

Srinagar: In a momentous event that left the central Kashmir’s Srinagar city awash with emotions, the 8th Muharram procession took place on Monday morning started through the traditional routes.

As per news agency Kashmir Scroll thousands of mourners, clad in black, gathered to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.

The administration had given permission to take out the procession on traditional routes.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar Birdi who distributed water mourners told reporters that the procession is being taken out peacefully and mourners have been cooperating very well.

He said that they have kept volunteers who have been cooperating with police to ensure peaceful procession.

He said that procession is being given permission on conditions as it is being done to ensure peaceful environment.

Ok asking about 10th Muharam procession, he said that district administration is looking into it and any decision will be taken after taking into account all parameters.(KS)
