Kishtwar: Two minor brothers drowned to death in a stream in the Bonjwah area of Kishtwar.

News agency Kashmir Scroll quoted an official as saying that two boys — Nasir Hussain (16) and Yasir Hussain (13), sons of Mohammad Shafi Zargar of Gundoo Tehsil, Chilli Pingil drowned to death in Kishtwar.

He said it took around four hours for police and locals to fish out their dead bodies, which were handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities.

In a similar incident, a 24-year-old man drowned to death after he fell into a stream in Gundipora village of Qazigund in Kulgam on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

An official said that the youth had gone for a stroll near the stream and suddenly slipped into it

Soon after the incident, police and locals retrieved his body, he said.

The deceased has been identified as Suhail Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah of Gundipora, Qazigund, news agency KNO reported.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident.
