Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.

He said at Shrai Tangmarg, police intercepted and later arrested one Abdul Ahad Wagay, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, resident of Shrai after 11.5 kgs of poppy straw and poppy powder was recovered from his possession.

During questioning, the accused disclosed the name of his accomplice Mohammad Ashraf Wani, son of Ghulam Rasool, resident of Kitchimatpora, who was subsequently arrested. Another 900 grams of poppy powder was recovered from his possession.

A case has been registered for further investigation, police said.
