CRC Sgr and Rehabilitation Council of India sign MoU for PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology

Srinagar: In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities in the field of psychology in Srinagar, the Regional Director of IGNOU Srinagar, Dr A.H. Rizvi, visited the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Srinagar to inspect and assess the feasibility of establishing an IGNOU Study Centre.

This centre is set to offer a Postgraduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IGNOU New Delhi and the Rehabilitation Council of India, aiming to launch the PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology programme across the country starting from the July 2024 admission cycle. CRC Srinagar will be one of the numerous IGNOU study centres nationwide where this programme will be available.

During his visit to CRC Srinagar, Dr. Rizvi engaged in constructive discussions with Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Director of the centre, Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Regional Director I/c, along with faculty members and administrative staff. These discussions centered on aligning the new programme with local educational needs and ensuring the availability of necessary infrastructure and resources.

Dr. Rizvi conducted a thorough evaluation of the existing infrastructure at CRC Srinagar, including classrooms and laboratory facilities, to ensure they meet the requirements for effectively delivering the programme.

Expressing optimism about the collaboration, Dr. Rizvi highlighted the potential of this partnership in expanding access to quality education in rehabilitation psychology. The establishment of the IGNOU Study Centre at CRC Srinagar is expected to meet the growing demand for education in this field and significantly contribute to developing skilled professionals.

Dr. Rizvi stated, “CRC Srinagar and IGNOU Regional Centre are committed to fostering a productive partnership that enhances educational opportunities and empowers individuals in the region through quality higher education in psychology.”

The MoU was signed on July 5, 2024, between Dr. A.H. Rizvi, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Incharge Regional Director of CRC Srinagar, in the presence of Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Director of DEPD, Government of India, New Delhi, and Dr. Zaffar Iqbal. This agreement officially establishes the IGNOU Study Centre for the PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology at the Composite Regional Centre in Bemina, Srinagar.
