Youth drowns to death in Kupwara

Srinagar: Body of a youth who had drowned in Nallah Pohru in Sopore on Wednesday was recovered on Thursday.

An official said that on Wednesday a youth from Nathipoora drowned in Pohru near the bridge at Sonwani Wadoora Sopore.

Identified as Ihtisham Shafi (18), son of Mohammad Shafi Lone of Nathipora Bomai, his body was recovered today while further proceedings have been taken up.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, another youth drowned in the same stream while taking a bath in Sopore today.

Quoting an official, news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that one Umar Hameed, son of Abdul Hameed Dar of Naseerabad Sopore drowned in the stream today. It said efforts are on to trace him while police have taken cognizance and started an investigation.
