DC Bla visits Pattan to finalise arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haraam

BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today visited sub-division Pattan and convened a meeting with officers at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Pattan to review and finalize arrangements for the smooth celebration of the upcoming Muharram ul Haraam month.

During the meeting, delegations present raised several concerns that need addressing to ensure a smooth celebration of Muharram. They stressed the importance of uninterrupted access to drinking water and power, sufficient medical supplies, and adequate rations, especially during the significant days.

After listening to the grievances and demands, the DC instructed officers from the relevant departments to coordinate and ensure adequate arrangements in Shia-dominated areas during Muharram.

The PHE department was instructed to ensure the availability of water tankers, while the Police Department was directed to ensure the overall security of religious sites.

Additionally, the food and supplies department was asked to keep sufficient rations stocked for the Muharram days and the PDD department was directed to keep a round-the-clock power supply available.

Furthermore, Minga Sherpa directed the municipal authorities to ensure sanitation of all the religious places including Imam Baras, shrines, and masjids while the health department was entrusted to keep medical facilities available at all times.

The meeting was attended by SSP Baramulla, Amod Nagpure, SDM Pattan, other district and sectoral officers, and representatives of various Shia associations besides other functionaries.
