Commissioner F&DA inaugurates workshop, registration mela at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration, Hashmat Ali Yauto, today inaugurated a workshop cum license/registration mela besides conducting an interactive session with scores of FBO Associations here at Anantnag.

The workshop was also attended by Joint Commissioner of Food Safety, Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety Kashmir, Shagoofa Jalal, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Anantnag, Sheikh Zameer Ahmad and State Nodal Officer Firdous Ahmad besides FBO Associations including representatives from NGOs, consumer organisations, Bakers association, Hoteliers association and spice industry.

During the licence/registration mela, 25 State Licenses and 85 registrations were issued on the spot and presented to FBOs by the Commissioner FDA.

Deliberations were held on various issues raised by the representatives of the Food Business Operators including Manufacturers, Retailers, and Hotel and Restaurant Associations. An open question-answer session was also held regarding the queries of FBOs and consumers.

The FBOs were informed about the latest amendments made in the FSS Act, 2006 including the provision of “Tatkal License/Registration” and other Rules & Regulations made there under. They were advised to strictly adhere to the guidelines and advisories so issued.

The Commissioner stressed on the role of FBOs as major stakeholders in the effective implementation of provisions of the regulations. “Our priority is to ensure safe and wholesome food to the consumers and there is a need for collaboration among all the stakeholders to accomplish the objectives,” he maintained.
