Youth drowns to death in Kupwara

Srinagar: A boy drowned to death while another one was rescued when they were bathing in a river in Nowshera area of Rajouri district on Sunday afternoon.

An official said that two boys Amandeep Singh (15), son of Kamaljeet Singh, and Nakshpreet Singh (15) son of Kulveer Singh, both residents of Choki were taking bath in Munnawar Tawi Nowshera, when a current of water swept them away.

Even though both boys were retrieved from the river and rushed to the Sub district hospital, the doctor there pronounced Amandeep Singh as being brought dead while Nakshpreet Singh was referred to GMC Rajouri for further treatment.

Police have taken cognizance and started an investigation.
