Patwari and former Panch arrested in Jammu for bribery

Jammu, June 13: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Patwari Parvez Ahmed of Halqa Gurha Manhasan, Pargwal, Jammu, and former Panch Vijay Kumar, also known as Babbu, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe.

The ACB received a complaint alleging that Ahmed was demanding a bribe of ₹30,000 to enter court directions into the revenue record for a land parcel measuring 17 Marlas under Khasra No. 654 in Gurha Manhasan, Tehsil Pargwal, Jammu. The complainant, who refused to pay the bribe, requested legal action against the concerned Patwari.

Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB registered a case under FIR No. 07/2024 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, read with Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, at the ACB Police Station in Jammu.

During the investigation, a trap team was formed, successfully catching Ahmed and Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from the complainant. Both individuals were arrested on the spot.

Searches are currently being conducted at the residences of the accused. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
