Ganderbal in Kashmir and Kathua in Jammu record hottest day

Ganderbal records 34.8°C and Kathua, 45.0°C

Srinagar: As the heat wave continues in Jammu and Kashmir, Ganderbal in central Kashmir recorded the hottest day at 34.8°C and Qazigund finishing second at 33.7°C.

With 34.8°C in Ganderbal district, Sunday was the season’s hottest day in the Kashmir valley during May.

As per the MeT department, Qazigund in south Kashmir was the second area in the Valley to witness the hottest day at 33.5°C.

Srinagar city recorded 32.7°C; Pahalgam, 28.1°C; Kupwara, 30.5°C; Kokernag, 31.5°C, Gulmarg 22.6°C; Anantnag 32.6°C; Bandipora 32.7°C; Baramulla 30.9°C; Sonamarg 25.6°C; Budgam 31.3°C and; Shopian Shopian 32.7°C, @Kashmir_Weather, run by local weather watcher Faizan Arif posted on X.

While in the Jammu region, Kathua was the hottest at 45.0°C, Samba and Reasi followed with 43.6°C and 43.0°C while Jammu recorded 42.5°C.

Banihal recorded 32.6°C; Batote 32.4°C; Bhaderwah 34.8°C; Katra 38.2°C; Udhampur 40.3°C; Poonch 35.0°C.

UT of Ladakh too witness a hot day with Leh recording 22.5°C; Kargil 25.9°C and; Drass 22.0°C

Pertinently, the Kashmir valley, including some parts of Jammu, is simmering as the heat wave has intensified across Jammu and Kashmir, and the weatherman here has predicted more hot and dry weather conditions for the next week.
