Srinagar: Police booked four drug smugglers including a woman under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.

He said drug smuggler Muskaan Begum, wife of Irfan Ahmad Sheikh of Dewanbagh Baramulla, has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.

He said many cases are registered against the said drug smuggler and that she was involved in promoting the “drug abuse trade” by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla town and other areas of the district.

Drug smugglers — Irfan Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, also a resident of Dewanbagh Baramulla; Ishfaq Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Rashid of Harshnag Kreeri, at present Chuntipathri Tangmarg; and Iddries Khan, son of Mohammad Shafi of Noorkhah Boniyar — have also been booked under PIT-NDPS Act, detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu, police said, adding that many cases are registered against them.
