Rajasthan couple injured, former sarpanch dead in separate terrorist attacks in south Kashmir

Srinagar, May 18: In a series of terrorist attacks in south Kashmir, a couple from Rajasthan was injured, and a former Sarpanch was shot dead in two separate incidents on Saturday evening.

In the first incident, Farha and her husband Tabrez, residents of Jaipur, Rajasthan, were shot by terrorists in the Yannar area of Anantnag district. According to the Kashmir zone police, the couple was immediately evacuated to a hospital for treatment following the attack. The police shared details on the social media platform X, stating, “Terrorists fired upon and injured a lady, Farha R/O Jaipur, and her spouse, Tabrez, at Yannar, #Anantnag. Injured were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. The area has been cordoned off. Further details shall follow.”

In a separate attack, former Sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh was critically injured after being shot by terrorists in the Hirpora area of Shopian district. A senior police officer informed Kashmir Scroll that Sheikh was rushed to a nearby hospital for advanced treatment but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries. The officer also mentioned that the area has been cordoned off to apprehend the attackers.
