Police solve hit-and-run case in Pulwama

Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have solved a hit-and-run case in Pulwama by arresting an accused person involved in a road accident.

Sharing details, a police spokesperson informed that on May 14, Police Post Newa received information about a hit-and-run incident involving an auto load carrier. The vehicle had hit a 10-year-old minor girl at Wurwan and fled the scene. The girl was critically injured and subsequently shifted to District Hospital Pulwama, where she succumbed.

A case was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pulwama and an investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, available CCTV footage along the road was obtained and thoroughly analysed, and the accused driver was identified as Imran Ali Mir, son of Ali Mohammad Mir, resident of Sanzipora, B.K. Pora, Budgam, has been arrested.

During questioning, the accused admitted his involvement in the case. The involved vehicle, an auto load-carrier (JK01AD 9301), was also recovered and subsequently seized. Further investigation is going on, police said.
