Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and Kulgam districts and recovered contraband substance & cash from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.
At Laktipora near the playground one Mohammad Yousuf Malik, son of Mohammad Jabbar Malik of Melhora Shopian, was arrested after 2.4 kgs of cannabis powder and cash of ₹1,96,000, “believed to be proceeds of narcotics crime”, was recovered from his possession.
At Okey in neighbouring Kulgam, 5.2 Kg of poppy straw was recovered from one Bilal Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Khaliq Bhat, resident of Okey. He too was arrested.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective police stations for investigation, police said.
