Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah today asked people to make a decision if their daily life has improved after August 5, 2019, and everything is fine.

“But if your life has not improved, then you need to make sure that the National Conference wins with a thumping majority. If unemployment has reduced here and your children are employed, the electricity supply has improved, electricity bills have come down, the water supply is uninterrupted, ration supply has increased and if your roads have improved, then without doubt you should vote for lotus, apples, buckets, pens and bats, but if everything is the opposite, then you should make the National Conference a success through your vote,” he said.

Omar Abdullah, the party’s nominated candidate for the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, made these comments after he kickstarted his election campaign from the Beerwah constituency. He addressed back-to-back workers’ conventions, public gatherings, road shows and rallies at 24 places. People and party workers warmly welcomed him and accompanied him in rallies and processions.

He was accompanied by party treasurer Shami Oberoi, political conciliator Mudassar Shahmiri and in-charge Dr Muhammad Shafi, senior leaders Muhammad Ibrahim and other leaders and officials.

Omar Abdullah in his address said, “As an MLA I worked in every area of Beerwah but unfortunately the work has stopped where I left off in 2018. Be it water supply schemes, installation of electricity transformers, wires and poles, construction of road projects or other projects, all the work has stopped where I left it.”

He said that during the past years the rulers did not benefit the common people and only did injustice. “Today I have come to ask for your vote after 10 years and I request you to vote for me and give me an opportunity to work again, where your sweat is, there will be my blood.”

Omar Abdullah said that our unemployed youth are frustrated. “Our lands are in danger, which were given to the people after the revolutionary act initiated by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah without compensation. Today those lands have also been threatened. Therefore, I appeal to you to ensure the success of the National Conference in the upcoming parliamentary elections and future assembly elections, and give us an opportunity to fight for your rights,” he said.
