Police attach properties of drug peddler in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police have attached properties including a residential house and land of a “notorious drug peddler”, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.

He said land measuring nine Marlas land and a double-storied residential house worth approximately Rs 50 lakhs belonging to a drug peddler Shabir Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Mazhama, Magam was attached.

The action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR No.05/2024 under sections 8/20, 22 & 29 NDPS Act of Police Station Kunzer.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation by police,” the spokesperson said.

Pertinently, in the last four months, police have attached “illegal” properties worth Rs 5.5 crores of 16 “notorious” drug peddlers in Baramulla, the spokesperson said.
