Srinagar: Peoples Conference Provincial President Mohammad Khurshid Alam presided over a significant meeting held at Kawoosa Narbal, emphasizing the urgent need for political accountability and change.

Addressing a robust assembly, Alam urged attendees to reject the conventional political parties, particularly the National Conference, and their dissemination of deceitful narratives.

“People demand answers from the National Conference regarding their past actions and contributions to the state. The people of the state deserve to know what National Conference achieved beyond securing the CM chair in 1975 after being part of the Baig/Parthasathi dialogue,” he said.

Highlighting the imposition and misuse of draconian laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA), he attributed these measures to the governance of the National Conference, affirming, “The introduction and misuse of these laws are emblematic of the National Conference’s authoritarian rule.”

Furthermore, Alam raised pertinent questions about NC’s response during crises, including their handling of autonomy resolutions and their perceived inadequacy in addressing the aftermath of the 2014 floods, stating, “The National Conference must answer for their inaction and lack of effective measures during times of crisis.”

His impassioned plea for change under the leadership of Sajad Lone resonated throughout the gathering, rallying support for a new trajectory in Kashmiri politics.
