Locally made Election Mascot by first time female voters displayed; ECI Logo, #Vote4Sure & #Stand4Chunav also depicted

SRINAGAR, APRIL 27: The District Election Office Srinagar organized a Human Chain event under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative at the historic Polo Ground, Srinagar to generate awareness about the importance of voting in a democratic system.

The event was attended by 450 participants, out of which 250 were young first-time voters Viz. College-going students besides teachers and other staff.

On the occasion, an election mascot, locally made by first-time female voters (USHA-trained tailors) was also displayed to captivate the participants and enthused them to vote.

Through this gesture, a message was sent across the society, especially youth, and first-time voters regarding the importance of voting.

During the event, the Election Commission of India Logo, #Vote4Sure and #Stand4Chunav were also depicted by forming a human chain.

Speaking on the occasion, Nodal Officer SVEEP emphasized the importance of participation in the democratic process. He said the vote is a collective power of individual voices that brings about real change and it is the greatest festival of democracy.

He also deliberated on various aspects of ethical voting and informed decisions.

Meanwhile, all the participants took a pledge to exercise their franchise on May 13th, 2024 and ensure that their near and dear ones also take part in the voting process, the poll day for the 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
